Carole Ducharme is an award-winning writer, director, and producer with a history of film financing at an international level. She is the founder of Witness Productions, a production company dedicated to creating innovative films and television programs that shatter boundaries and explode stereotypes. Carole writes, directs and produces projects in English and in French.

Carole was born in Montreal and graduated from the University of Montreal 's Law School . After specializing in film financing, she worked in Paris , France , as Head of International Co-Productions, where she co-produced such Canadian features hits as Michel Brault's Mon Amie Max with Genevieve Bujold.

After returning to Canada to reside in Vancouver, Carole associate produced the 13 half-hour animated television series Cybersix (Canada-Japan co-production) broadcast on Teletoon and winner of the Leo award for Best Animated Television Series. She went on to write and direct the documentary The Neighborhood Kids , winner of the Blizzard Award for Best Non-Dramatic series. Then she co-wrote, co-directed and associate produced the one-hour documentary Man Made Women , about the Miss Venezuela beauty pageant, which premiered at Hot Docs in Toronto in 2002. She also wrote and directed episodes of the educational series Canada à la Carte II . In 2004, she brought her wealth of experience to the 13 one-hour hockey docu-reality series Bell Making the Cut - Le Repêchage Bell . The tight schedule and unique challenges of producing an original French version inspired her to bring her best to the project, which was broadcast in French on the Quebec sports network RDS and in English on CBC. In 2006, she is back story producing and directing the second season of Making The Cut – Last Man Standing , a 17 half-hour & 5 one-hour hockey docu-reality series, broadcast on Global.

Carole Ducharme wrote, directed and produced the notable short fiction film Love Interruptus and the award-winning half-hour comedy Straight From the Suburbs . The latter went on to be a big hit, winning two Nell Shipman Production Excellence Awards (Seattle, USA), including Best Short Film, and was subsequently invited to more than 40 international film festivals. It has been broadcast in Canada , the USA and Australia and is currently being distributed on DVD in Europe . Carole is now developing a comedy series and a feature film based on the short film.

Carole is currently writing and directing the one-hour documentary My Queer Family , produced by the National Film Board of Canada. Additionally, she has written and developed the highly acclaimed feature film script The Women of My Life , with the assistance of Telefilm Canada , BC Film, The Harold Greenberg Fund, Movie Central, and the National Screen Institute Features First Program. The Women of My Life was a finalist at the Moondance International Film Festival 2006 Screenplay Competition ( Hollywood ).
